Happy Earth Day! Today we celebrate supporting environmental protection. In this blog we will share a few simple ways that you can go green at home. Check it out!
Plant native plants- adding native plants to your yard is a great way to support the environment. Native plants will adapt to the local climate and make a better home for the wildlife in your area.
Caulk and weather strip- When you apply the proper caulking and weather stripping to your doors and windows it will keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Using less heat and air conditioner will save a significant amount of energy.
Buy local produce- It is important to focus on locally grown produce. Buying local instead of buying organic produce in large supermarkets is important because transporting organic products from one place to another creates carbon emissions. When you buy locally grown produce you are supporting the environment and your local economy!
Use the correct sized burner- While cooking, make sure to use a burner that is smaller than the size of your pot or pan. This is a great way to use less energy and produce heat more efficiently.
Wash large loads- Hold off on washing clothes until you have enough dirty items to make a full load. Running your washing machine frequently uses a lot of energy. Only running full loads saves energy! After a while you might even notice a decrease in your energy bill.
